Frequently asked questions
General questions about LipiTools. Questions about one particular tool are answered on that tool's own page, linked below.
About the site
Is LipiTools really free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use, as often as you like, with no trial period, no paid tier and no limit on how much text you convert. Running costs stay low because the work happens in your browser; in the future the site may also show advertising to cover them, which keeps the tools free for everyone.
Do I need to create an account or sign up?
No. There are no accounts and no logins. Open a tool and start using it. We never ask for your phone number or email address, except when you choose to send us a message through the contact form.
Does anything I type, paste or open leave my device?
No. The converters, PDF readers, OCR, spell checker and image makers all run inside your web browser. Your text, files and photos are processed on your own phone or computer and are never uploaded to LipiTools or anyone else. Some tools download a word list, font or reading engine the first time you use them, but nothing travels in the other direction. The privacy policy has the details.
Which phones, computers and browsers are supported?
Any recent version of Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox, on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows or Mac. Nothing needs to be installed. The heavier tools, such as Urdu OCR and PDF reading, work on phones too but are faster on a computer with long documents.
A tool gave a wrong result. How do I report it?
Every tool page has a “Report a problem with this tool” link at the bottom. It opens the contact form with the tool already named. Paste a short sample of the text that went wrong and, for InPage text, say which InPage version you use. Nothing is sent automatically: you choose exactly what to include. Each report becomes a test case so the same mistake cannot come back.
Which languages and scripts do the tools cover?
The tools are built for Urdu in the Perso-Arabic script, including Nastaliq and Naskh text, Urdu digits and Roman Urdu. One tool also converts Punjabi between Gurmukhi and Shahmukhi. The site itself is in English, and the three main converters also have full Urdu pages (use the اردو switch at the top).
Can I use the results in commercial or published work?
Yes. Converted text, number words, PDFs, Word files and images you make are yours to use, including in newspapers, books, school material and client work, without crediting us. You are responsible for having the right to use the text and photos you put in. Please proofread important documents. See the terms of use.
How do I suggest a new tool or feature?
Use the contact form and choose “Suggest a tool or improvement”. Tell us what you are trying to do and, if you can, include an example. Suggestions that help many people are built first, and we reply to every message.
